Art. 1

The Competition is open to musicians of all nationalities.

Art. 2

The Competition will be in Sociedade Filarmónica Humanitária, Palmela, Portugal, between July 15 and 16, 2016.

Art. 3

The registration in the Competition constitutes acceptance of the official rules and any change made by the organization, in special circumstances.

Infant Category: Born from to 2003/07/16

Juvenile Category: Born between 2000/07/16 and 2003/07/15

Junior Category: Born between 1997/07/16 and 2000/07/15

Senior Category: Born between 1985/07/16 and 1997/07/15

Art. 5

Stages of the competition

Categories Infant and Juvenile

Will be decided in a single round, where the participant will present one piece of his/her choice.

Categories Junior and Senior

The competition will be decided in two rounds:

  • First Round: the participant will present one mandatory piece.
  • Final Round: the finalists will present one of three pieces suggested by the competition and one piece of his/her choice

    If the participant intend to play with the competition’s pianist, should request it in the registration form and submit it until July 20, 2016, otherwise the request will be denied.

    Art. 8

    The rehearsals with the competition’s pianist will have place in the morning and afternoon of July 14, 2016.

    Art. 9

    The order of play will be choose by draw.

    Art. 10

    All the participants will have to present a valid identification document, otherwise they won’t be allowed on the competition.

    The Jury will be headed by Vitor Santos.

    Art. 13

    The head of the Jury has veto power.

    Art. 14

    Assessment methodology

    First Round

    Each member of the Jury will assess each participant from 1 to 20 values.
    In the end of each performance the assessments will be collected and counted.
    The highest and lowest assess will be removed.
    If one of the members of the Jury is the teacher of any of the participants, his assess will also be removed.
    The final assessment of each participant will be the average of the remaining assesses given by the Jury.
    On the end of each round, the Jury will meet and all the assessments (given by all the juror) for each participant will be disclosed.
    If there is a tie the head of the Jury will have veto power.

    Final Round

    All the steps above will be followed

    There can be place for honourable mentions, exclusively on exceptional cases, if the Jury is consensual

    Art. 15

    The Jury has the right of interrupting the performance at any moment.

    The Jury’s decisions are unquestionable.

    Art. 16

    There will be admitted 6 participants in the Final Round.

    Art. 17

    The results will be announced on the winners concert, on July 16, at the São João Theatre, Palmela.

    Art. 18

    FISP organization won’t be responsible for any material damage, before, during or after the competition.

    Art.20

    The awards will be given at the Winners Concert, on July 16, 2016 at 21h30.
    Each category winning participant will have to perform at the winners Concert.

    Art. 21

    If necessary the Festival organization can nominate new Jury members.

    Art. 22

    The registration form should be submitted at the festival official website (www.fispalmela.com), until June 23, 2016.

    Art. 23

    The competition program schedule, with all the information (rehearsals and performance schedule) will be announced until July 8, 2016

    Art. 24

    All the participants should have the originals scores of the pieces to perform.

    Art. 25

    Image rights – FISP reserves the right to transmit some or all of the tests in the competition for radio or television, as well as to use these recordings for promotional purposes of FISP, without prior authorization.
