Born in Barcelona, he obtained the diploma for the saxophone at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona under professor Salvador Lopez. He completed his subsequent studies at the Conservatoire National de la Région Cergy-Pontoise in Paris under professor Jean-Yves Fourmeau with the following degrees: Médaille d´Or à l´Unaminité in the superior level for saxophone, Médaille d´Or in the superior level for chamber music. In addition, he studied the saxophone under professor Eugene Rousseau at the University of Indiana (U.S.A.), where he obtained the “Artist Diploma”, and he is only the second saxophonist to have completed this highly demanding curriculum.

He gave numerous concerts both as a member of various ensembles and as a soloist in U.S.A., Mexico, Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland and Portugal. He played in various ensembles, such as the Roda de Saxos, the Egara Saxofon Quartet, the Trio New Winds, the Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Orquestra del Teatro del Liceo de Barcelona, Indiana Wind Ensemble, Orquestra Nacional d’Andorra, Orquestra de Cambra de Granollers, Orquestra de l’Empordà, Banda Municipal de Bilbao, Banda Sinfónica del Estado de Veracruz and Orquesta Sinfónica de Xalapa.

Apart from his concerts, he is professor for saxophone at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceo and the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, and Director of the Liceu Sax Festival in Barcelona.

Albert Julià is international Yamaha artist.
