Hélder Alves – Russel Petersson Project
The choice of works for this recital, was designed taking into account my recital master’s degree in performance, held in 2013 in ESML. During their training, one music student is usually referred to a soloist and work for standard repertoire. To counter this trend, the intention was to find a way different, in which the saxophone be operated in a least common clusters and distinct musical context of the traditional scholar, based on jazz influences and of world music. the taking of possible topics has been made, which stood out the composer Russell Peterson, who devotes much of his work to the saxophone and It has a certain originality not only in musical notation as well as the choice of different formations. Peterson felt the need to look for something different in performance a chamber music repertoire where all stakeholders could be soloists, inspired by a jazz combo. In pursuit of that difference makes up his music in order to seek to play what they like and people you care about.
