A dance that gives direction, lives, steps forward, backwards, illustrated and interpreted by new embracements of ideas.
A program based on one of the pillars of the string quartet repertoire : The Death and the Maiden from Franz Schubert. Schubert suffered through a serious illness, he realized he was dying and he composed this quartet as a testament to his death. A struggle with “Death” a relentless race through terror, pain and resignation.
Combined with one of the widely regarded best orchestral compositions of the Baroque era; Johann Sebastian Bach’s second Brandenburg Concert BWV 1047. Surrounded by compositions of Dimitris Andrikopoulos, Arvo Pärt, Marc Mellits and Gijs van Dijk.
