Mário Marques

Mário Dinis Marques was born in 1972 in the city of Alcobaça. He studied saxophone at the Lisbon Music Conservatory. In 2002 gradueted in saxophone at the Music School of Lisbon in 2105 was doctorate at the University of Évora.

It has integrated regularly as a musician soloist the Calouste Gulbenkian Orchestra, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of Oporto, Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra and Orchestra of Algarve

He has performed as soloist with the Orchestra of Beiras the “Concertino for tenor sax, string and wind instruments” Bob Mintzer; the Portuguese symphonic band with which debuted the “Double concertmaster for tenor sax, tuba and concert band” luís Cardoso; Symphonic Band of Portuguese Police .; Band of the Portuguese Navy the “Concerto for Saxophone and Symphonic Band” Mike Mower, Sinfonietta de Lisboa the “Concerto for Stan Getz “of R.R.Bennett and Symphonic Band of Alcobaça.

Collaborated in several programs of television and musical theater and recorded with several Portuguese groups as “The Gift”; “Silence4”; “Deolinda”; “Bernardo Sassetti,” “Amalia today” among others.

It also has as his personal projects the groups Tubax, Rondó da Carpideira, The Postcard Brass Band and Saxophone Quartet Saxofínia where besides musician, working in the production and editing disks and which have earned the credit of numerous composers such as Daniel Bernardes; Eurico Carrapatoso; Bernardo Sassetti; Cristopher Bochmann; Jon Hansen; Luis Cardoso; Luis Pena, Howie Smith; Petri Keskitalo, Jerry Grant, Jim Self, Mike Fitzpatrick and others

He was resident artist Alcobaça Cine-Theatre in 2008 where he presented the projects “Zoom In – The music of Daniel Schnyder and Music Anders Paulsson” for soprano, Mixed Choir & Organ.

Multifaceted musician and producer of several albums has applied this experience in the study of musical interpretation and performative practice of language crossover featuring articles on various conferences. Is assistant professor in the Music Department of the University of Évora where in addition to teaching is an adjunct of the Department of Music Direction.
